London, Tuesday 1st December – Channel 5 today confirms Professor Green as the co-presenter for its new entertainment show Lip Sync Battle UK. The channel confirmed Pro Green – real name Stephen Manderson – following their announcement of Mel B a few weeks ago.

The I Need You Tonight rapper will join global entertainment icon Mel B to front the UK version of the hit U.S. show when it launches on Channel 5 in January 2016. Professor Green broke into the music biz after being signed by Streets vocalist Mike Skinner’s label – The Beats, in 2008. He’s amassed over 3 million sales since his debut album Alive Till I’m Dead, and has also won and been nominated for a host of awards including Breakthrough Artist at the BT Digital Music Awards, an MTV EMA, an NME Award, three Urban Music awards, and three MOBOs. He recently released his autobiography ‘Lucky’ which spent 2 weeks on the Sunday Times best seller list and charts his colourful past and rise to fame.

Having worked with some of the UK’s top talent such as Lilly Allen and Example, Pro Green is part of UK rap royalty and has the entourage to match. Will he be bringing some famous faces to the stage?

“When the chance to work with Mel B came up the answer was obviously a yes. I’m working with a f***ing Spice Girl!” Said Pro Green of the match. “The fact I’d be her co-host on Lip Sync Battle was also exciting. Jokes aside I’m very excited about filming the first series – having spent a good while on YouTube watching the US show I’m looking forward to seeing what our guests bring to the table!”

Already a huge hit and a cultural phenomenon in the US and online, Lip Sync Battle UK  will feature two well-known celebrities going head-to-head with show stopping routines of smash hit songs, with dance moves, facial expressions and costumes that will blow you away! Be prepared to see some of your favourite names as you’ve never seen them before.

Channel 5’s Commissioning Editor, Entertainment Steve Regan said: “We couldn’t be more excited to announce Pro Green as Mel’s co-host, they’re a match made in Lip Sync Heaven.  Take Mel B’s edgy attitude and Professor Green’s urban cool, throw in incredible performances from well known faces and we’re expecting fireworks!

CEO of Whizz Kid Entertainment Malcolm Gerrie said: “I’m totally chuffed Professor Green has agreed to co-host Lip Sync Battle alongside Mel B.  Having won countless rap battles himself he’s perfectly qualified to take the gloves off and provide an expert opinion as our stars slug it out!”

Lip Sync Battle UK will come to Channel 5 in January 2016.

Lip Sync Battle UK is based on Spike’s Lip Sync Battle and produced under license from Viacom International Inc. The award-nominated Lip Sync Battle was developed and executive produced for the Spike cable TV network in the U.S. by Casey Patterson of Casey Patterson Entertainment, Jay Peterson of Matador Content, John Krasinksi, Stephen Merchant and Eight Million Plus Productions. The original U.S. series is hosted by two-time Grammy award winner, LL Cool J, co-host Chrissy Teigen and has featured an array of A-list musical combatants.
