MTV INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES “CELEB EX IN THE CITY” A BRAND NEW FORMAT FOR FANS OF THE HIT “EX ON THE BEACH” GLOBAL FRANCHISE

Celeb Ex in the City premieres December 8th across MTV channels around the world

NEW YORK/LONDON—NOV. 17, 2020—MTV International is dishing out more celebrity dating drama with the launch of Celeb Ex in the City, the latest extension of its hit, global franchise Ex on the Beach. Premiering across MTV International’s channels around the world beginning December 8th, the show trades in its typical sandy paradise for London city life.

Celeb Ex in the City will give audiences the inside scoop on celeb relationships in a brand new format as each episode features two single celebrities on a blind date at a restaurant in the heart of London—only to be interrupted by surprise visits from notorious exes. The show includes familiar MTV “Ex” stars including Calum Best and Michael Griffiths, and features new famous faces like Charlie King, Megan Barton Hanson, Jon Clarke, Gothy Kendoll, Liam Gatsby, Malique Thompson Dwyer, Amelle Berrabah, Amy Hart, Jess Gale, Aisleyne Horgan Wallace and more surprise guests.

Celeb Ex in the City was filmed prior to London’s second lockdown, in accordance with government safety policies and advised by ViacomCBS Networks International’s global safety taskforce, including external consultants.

This latest format in MTV’s Ex on the Beach franchise comes at the heels of the success of Celeb Ex on the Beach, which was ranked the #1 show on MTV UK in 2020, with audiences improving the time slot average by +176%, ranked in the top five shows on MTV Brazil and scored +90% the timeslot average in Australia. Since its 2014 launch on MTV International, Ex on the Beach became MTV’s most widely traveled and locally adapted show and has aired in 15 territories, including the US, Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands, Italy and more, with over 900 episodes created around the world. More recently, a 15th local version of the format launched in Germany on RTL’s TVNOW and the show has already been recommissioned for a second season for 2021.

A ViacomCBS International Studios format, Celeb Ex in the City was created by ViacomCBS Networks International’s Youth & Entertainment development team, in association with Whizz Kid Entertainment (an Entertainment One Company), commissioned by Kerry Taylor and Craig Orr. The show was executive produced by Jaime Brannan for MTV International and Lisa Chapman and Rachael Parker for Whizz Kid Entertainment.
