New Sky Arts ‘Talks Music’ Highlight of Autumn TV Schedules – Kicks Off November 4th at 9pm
One of the most exciting new music interview programs hits UK screens November 4th when ‘Talks Music’ kicks off its incredible first season on Sky Arts 1 HD with a bumper crop of some of the world’s top talents.
For ten weeks, ‘Talks Music’ will take a revealing look at some of the biggest and most interesting names in music, interviewed by Malcolm Gerrie who draws on his ground breaking experience in music television.
“When Sky Arts asked me if I’d like to host Talks Music, I jumped at the chance,” says executive producer Malcolm Gerrie. “Getting in front of a camera and talking music to some of my ultimate musical icons was both surreal and incredible. I’m proud that Talks Music will be part of a channel so committed to music and musicians.”
Throughout the ten part series, each guest will delve deeply into their colourful past and reveal much of what makes them tick. Their revelations are both insightful and entertaining.
Tony Bennett recalled the first time he met Frank Sinatra: “I went to the stage door and said, ‘my name is Tony Bennett and I’d like to meet Frank Sinatra…I just have a feeling we might get along’. He taught me the audience is your friend, not the enemy and it changed my life.”
Nile Rodgers talked about the material girl: “I’ve never met anybody with the tenacity and focus of Madonna…and she said to me ‘if you don’t love all these songs we can’t work together’ and I said ‘Wow I don’t love all these songs but one thing you can depend on…I will by the time I’ve finished with them
Ray Davies on the difference between him and Mick Jagger: “I admire Mick Jagger intensely but Mick’s always Jumping Jack Flash, you know where you stand with him. But me, I’m four or five different characters, whoever inspired the song. It’s like being an actor in many respects.”
Jeff Beck on working with Jimmy Page: “I was always trying to get my best mate into the band and it was an absolute disaster because he can’t play the bass for toffee, Jimmy. You know you’ve got four fat strings instead of six thin ones. And I said listen tomorrow you’re on lead; so then really I shot myself in the foot because I had to put up with him going all over the place when I was trying to solo.”
Talks Music is directed by Jeff Wurtz and co-produced with Synergistix Media, the Emmy Award winning team behind the prestigious American classic series ‘Inside the Actors Studio’.
The full list of artists will be announced shortly.
