Karen cut her teeth in the late 90s at the BBC starting out as the production secretary on the Esther Rantzen chat show “Esther”. Over 8 years she progressed up the ranks at the BBC, from researcher to producer, working on a wide range of fact ent formats and documentaries in production; from Holiday, What Not to Wear, Mischief, to Children in Need, while honing her skills in development winning commissions such as Full On Food, My Life As A Child, Alasdair McGowan Goes Wild with Rhinos, and Dereliction Detectives.
Joining Discovery Networks in 2007, Karen was part of the commissioning team taking pitches from indies as well as originating ideas and taking them straight to screen such as House Wreck Rescue, Tommy’s Fix Your House for Free, and London Ink.
Since then Karen has led development at IWC Media, Love Productions, Zig Zag Productions, and most recently Pioneer Productions where she originated several commissions including Your Face Says It All for Channel 4, Xplorer films for Red Bull, and the scripted feature-length drama-documentary Cradle to Grave for Nat Geo.
