Press - 2010
It’s January…it’s cold. You’re mooching around longing for sunshine… the summer festivals are a distant memory, there’s nothing to look forward to… or so you thought! Whizz Kid Entertainment, The Sage Gateshead and Channel 4 bring you the Outside-In Festival – a winter festival of ice cool proportions.
On Saturday 30th January 2010 it may be freezing outside but inside the stunning venue there will be a scorching mix of live music, massive acts, the hottest new bands, celebrity access and party antics! All the riotous joy of an outdoor festival without the mud and not a welly in sight! We’re melting away the winter blues and throwing a summer party!
A one day ticket gets you access to multiple stages, five hours of non-stop chart topping music and, with just 3,000 tickets available, the opportunity to get up close and personal to some amazing artists. First names confirmed include: Pixie Lott, N-Dubz, Sugababes, The Courteeners, Taio Cruz, Alphabeat, Example, Erik Hassle and Lostprophets. Working with Generator, the music development agency based in Newcastle, Outside-In will also feature the cream of the North East’s emerging talent including: Polarsets, Let’s Buy Happiness and Karoshi.
Festival goers are being told: ‘Life’s a beach so dress accordingly’ and if they turn up in their bikinis and Bermudas (free coat check provided!) they can look forward to spotting themselves when the festival highlights broadcast in early February on Channel 4’s: T4, 4Music and The Box TV channels. Metro Radio will also be broadcasting live from the festival.
Jenny Sanderson and Cat Hopper (see photo attached), are from Gateshead College who are sponsoring one of the main stages. They’ve had enough of the cold and decided to buy tickets and join the summer party. Jenny pictured (left) said: ‘ We think it’s a great idea to get in the summer spirit in the middle of winter; it’ll be strange going to a festival indoors dressed in our beachwear but if everyone enters into the spirit of the event it’ll be like being on holiday.’ Organisers have stressed that if the cold snap continues snowmen may be admitted!
The Outside-In Festival is partnered by Northern Film & Media, One North East, and forms part of NewcastleGateshead’s world-class programme of festivals and events, developed by Culture 10 Funds raised by the event will be helping some of The Prince’s Trust’s charity initiatives in the North East.
