HEAD OF PRODUCTION

Whizz Kid Entertainment – producers of The BAFTA Film Awards and Celebrity Ex on the Beach – are looking for a Head of Production to start mid-March 2020.

This is offered as a fixed term 3-month contract initially with the possibility of a staff position after this period.  Rate to be negotiated with the possibility of a flexible part-time contract depending on candidate.

The ideal applicant should have experience in budgeting and cost management across a wide range of genres including live events, studio, fact ent, fixed rig, digital content, popular documentary, comedy entertainment and music.  Experience of working with development teams and preparing budgets and quotes for new formats is essential.

This is a hands-on role supporting Production Executives, PMs and the development team with overall responsibility for all production output, production policy, compliance and health and safety.   Co-operating with the finance team and corporate finance on budget forecasts will also form part of the role.  Previous experience in a Head of Production role would be useful but it may suit an experienced candidate with senior Production Executive / Line Producer credits across a range of genres, broadcasters and budgets.

Self shooting Producer

Whizz Kid Entertainment is looking for a Self-Shooting Researcher with a combination of follow-doc storytelling and fact-ent or comedy experience to work on a new talent-driven, 60mins factual entertainment food series, charting the epic challenge to search throughout the UK, Europe and the globe for ‘the ultimate’ version of particular food dishes. The show will also feature studio-shot fact ent sequences with celebrities.

Skills Required:

Candidates must have strong experience researching characters, stories and content, location set-up  and filming experience, and self-shooting follow-doc/actuality content, ideally travel/journey-based.

Experience working on lighter-touch fact ent and comedic/funny series, and/or food programming, would be an additional bonus.

Start and End Dates:

Early February until June.

Start and End Dates:

We are looking for someone who would be available from February until June.

The show will also feature studio-shot fact ent sequences with celebrities.

Skills Required:

Candidates must have strong experience edit producing character-driven follow-doc series, ideally travel/journey-based, plus work on lighter-touch fact ent and comedic/funny series.
Ideally, candidates will also have worked on first-time series, helping to craft new formats, and worked on hybrid formats blending genres along the above lines.

Start and End Dates:

Availability within the period early April to mid Aug 2020, for 8-12 week blocks.

We are looking to recruit a Development Intern to join our team and work alongside our creative team.

You needn’t necessarily be a media graduate, you might be someone working in another creative arena but have a burning desire to work in TV or perhaps you have a head full of ideas and a love of writing and need somewhere to channel those energies. Whatever your background and whichever road you have taken to where you are, we don’t mind – we just want the right people, with the passion, ideas, skills and drive!

Our internship scheme provides an opportunity to work alongside industry professionals, providing a genuine, paid learning experience at an established production company.
The role involves developing ideas, cutting sizzle reels, writing treatments, attending and contributing fully to creative brainstorming sessions and participating in the creative processes of programme development.

We are looking for people with:

  • creativity and brilliant ideas
  • editing skills: Final Cut Pro or Premier ideally
  • camera skills
  • a passion for television and all things digital
  • the ability to work well with others in a creative environment
  • confidence and initiative
  • relevant skill-set e.g. IT skills: Photoshop/PowerPoint
  • a knowledge of current trends in television
