Corporate Financial Controller (part time)

Position:                Corporate Financial Controller (part time)

Reporting to:       Dual reporting to Finance Director, eOne LA TV Group and Whizz Kid Entertainment UK

Location:               London, UK

Position Summary:

Based at our offices in West End, the Corporate Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial reporting at Whizz Kid Entertainment. They will consolidate production and corporate entities to produce month-end accrual based financial statements and other ad hoc financial reporting requirements. They will work closely with the Finance Director and Finance Controller to produce financial updates and assist with budgets and forecasts the wider eOne division based in Toronto and the eOne Group Finance team in London. On an ongoing basis, they will work to improve the consolidation process at Whizz Kid Entertainment to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the reporting process across the business and assist with cashflow and ad hoc forecasting for senior management at Whizz Kid.

The incumbent shall aide the Director, Finance in establishing and implementing financial policies, procedures, internal controls, and reporting systems. They will provide guidance and technical support to a management accountant responsible for the accounts payable process and some reporting areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Statement Preparation and Reporting

  • Prepare timely monthly financial statements and other reporting pack elements and publish them to the TV Division and eOne Group Finance through the reporting system
  • Develop consolidation model outside the current accounting software. Continually update in response to any changes in group requirements or reporting obligations
  • Ensure quality control over financial reporting and financial transactions (invoicing, accounts payable, cash and bank)
  • Work with the Finance Controller to ensure accurate and timely management reporting and revenue recognition processes
  • Assistance in year-end accounts preparation and audit assistance; liaising with external auditors as required

Budgeting, Planning and Forecasting:

  • Investigate and monitor variances in actual to budget or forecast reporting
  • Support the Director, Finance in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Assist the Senior Management with regular check ins on forecast

Leadership and Internal Controls:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the Management Accountant
  • Working with eOne Group tax and third-party tax advisors to ensure tax compliance
  • Monitor legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to financial reporting and operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory organizations
  • Supporting the wider finance team and senior management with ad-hoc tasks
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Qualifications

  • Professional accounting designation (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA) required
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive accounting and management experience required
  • Strong accounting software skills, Sage experience an asset
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Previous experience with GAAP/ IFRS reporting
  • Television Production accounting experience an asset
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with individuals at all levels
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment under pressure with tight deadlines
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration and team building skills
  • Must be a self-starter due to the international reporting lines
