Unique multimedia project in production for cinema,Television and live audiences

(27th May 2016 – Ibiza / London) Leading entertainment content production companies, Whizz Kid
Entertainment, Essential Arts Entertainment and Nitrate Film, today announce a ground breaking multi media
feature length project, ‘Ibiza – The Silent Movie’, that sees pioneering music film director Julien Temple
(‘Glastonbury’, ‘The Filth and the Fury’, ‘London, The Modern Babylon’) interpret thousands of years in the
history and culture of the white island.

This genre-busting project based around a feature length documentary film set for release in 2017 will provide
a compelling audiovisual journey into Ibiza’s bohemian soul, captured in Julien’s iconic style.

The film’s research and production team are travelling the island, documenting its residents and globally
renowned club scene to capture Ibiza’s timeless essence of spirituality, self-expression, multi-cultural
acceptance, sensuality and the search for hedonism.

‘Ibiza – The Silent Movie’ will feature original footage currently being shot on location combined with previously
unseen archive material immersed in music from and inspired by Ibiza and its residents.

Key partners already in advanced negotiations with the production include a terrestrial UK broadcaster and a
major international music label. A special announcement of the project’s musical collaborators for the
soundtrack will follow imminently.

In parallel with a cinematic release, the film and its soundtrack are designed to be enjoyed at live music events,
festivals and clubs across the globe.

It is the first film you can dance to.

The production team behind ‘Ibiza – The Silent Movie’ comprises some of the most renowned and respected
executives from the music and film & TV industries.
Executive producers are Whizz Kid Entertainment’s CEO Malcolm Gerrie – on whose original idea the film is
based – and agent David Levy.

Essential Arts Entertainment’s Richard Conway and Andrew Curtis, frequent collaborators with Julien Temple
and producers of ‘The Ecstasy of Wilko Johnson’ and ‘Havana’, will produce.

Julien says of the project “”I am totally buzzed about telling the story of the many different Ibizas that have
managed to coexist over the last 2000 years and look forward to giving birth to a magical film about a magical
island”.

Whizz Kid Entertainment CEO and Executive Producer of the project, Malcolm Gerrie says “It’s long been my
dream to tell the real story of this magical island and I can’t think of a better person to realise that vision than
Julien Temple. Julien has a really special talent for capturing “the spirit of place” as proven in his stunning
portrayals of Glastonbury, Detroit, Rio and London. The story of Ibiza is the stuff of fiction and marrying over

WHIZZ KID ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES US FORMAT OPTION DEAL AND INTERNATIONAL SALES FOR ‘BBQ CHAMP’

Whizz Kid Entertainment announces US format option deal and international sales for ‘BBQ Champ’

(9th May 2016 – London)  Whizz Kid Entertainment and ‘Man vs Food’ star Adam Richman’s production company County of Kings today announce a deal with US producer Ugly Brother Studios to remake competitive cooking format ‘BBQ Champ’ in the US as a potential starring vehicle for Richman.

The announcement follows a succession of international acquisitions for the UK version of the show that also featured Adam Richman, including Top TV in New Zealand, Discovery Asia, Discovery Italy and Blue Ant TV in Canada.   A local version of the format has also been at hit for Canal 4 in Brazil.

The deals were secured by ITV Studios Global Entertainment, which holds the distribution rights for the World outside of the USA.

“We’re delighted to partner with Mike and Tim at Ugly Brother to develop the U.S. version of ‘BBQ Champ’” said Whizz Kid’s CEO Malcolm Gerrie. “With Adam bringing his encyclopedic knowledge of all things BBQ back to the format we’re confident the show will resonate with US broadcasters’’.

“Every culture on Earth has its version of barbecue or cooking over wood, fire and charcoal. Not only does this make ‘BBQ Champ’ incredibly accessible, but we also continually aim to show that there is so much more out there to barbecue than what one normally thinks” said Adam Richman. We’ll encourage viewers to use the skills they see on TV at home and demonstrate how the typical smoker and grill barbecue set up can be used to create dishes one normally doesn’t associate with the barbecue such as like cocktails and desserts”.

“It’s harder and harder to find an international format that will resonate stateside” said Mike Duffy, Co-Bro at Ugly Brother. “Barbeque is arguably America’s signature cuisine. Working with Malcolm, Lisa Chapman and Adam we’re intent on making the definitive American BBQ competition series”.

FREMANTLEMEDIA AND WHIZZ KID ENTERTAINMENT SET TO CAUSE MISCHIEF WITH THE HILARIOUS PRANK PAD

FREMANTLEMEDIA AND WHIZZ KID ENTERTAINMENT SET TO CAUSE MISCHIEF WITH THE HILARIOUS PRANK PAD
Deal includes the global TV rights for both finished programme and format

RealScreen, 1 February, 2015 – FremantleMedia has struck a deal with leading UK producer Whizz Kid Entertainment (the team behind MTV’s Ex on the Beach and Channel 5’s Lip Sync Battle UK) for the global TV rights for Prank Pad, a brand new show that sees a group of ten young people – including YouTube Prank-stars – living together in one house.  Airing on ITV2 in the UK, the aim of the game is to go the distance in the house –  despite being pranked at any hour of the day – until the final show when they must go through a series of pranks in the quickest time to win the cash prize.

FremantleMedia has global format rights to the show, while its distribution arm, FremantleMedia International (FMI) will handle sales of the 8 x 60 finished programme.

Prank Pad is a devilishly funny and playfully mischievous reality format that tests wit, relationships, stamina, guts and tolerance. Contestants co-habit in a property and are paired up together each week to prank another house mate.  So much the better if they can prank and irritate their fellow house sharers so much that they pack their bags and move out before they get a chance to win the cash prize.

From cling film capers to door knob disasters, hair removal outrage to hot sauce surprises, the show is jam packed with hilarious and hideous stunts all in the name of the game. Each episode sees the pranksters get together to vote for the week’s best and worst attempt. The losing pair will have to spend the night in the Prank Room where all sorts of pranks will be sprung on them… while the winners get to stay in the Safe Room where treats await and they are guaranteed not to be pranked that night!

The series finale sees the house turn the tables on the remaining contestants as they compete against the clock in a series of prank challenges to try and win the big cash prize.

Angela Neillis, Director of Non Scripted, UK, EMEA and Asia Pacific, FMI, says: “Prank Pad has the right mix of ingredients to make it a universal success. It’s fun, fresh and hilariously funny with outrageous practical jokes that will keep viewers on their toes. We’re delighted to be working with Whizz Kid Entertainment once again on this exciting show.”

Malcolm Gerrie CEO of Whizz Kid Entertainment says: ”FMI are the perfect partners for a show like Prank Pad which is attractive not only as a finished programme with it’s hilarious pranks, but also as a format for territories to cast their own breed of pranksters.”

Lisa Chapman, MD of Whizz Kid Entertainment adds: ”We devised this format in response to the huge popularity of on-line prank videos with many pranksters becoming stars in their own right.  Prank Pad is set to hook viewers on the storylines and drama but with laugh-out-loud pranks that are sure to become social media hits too.”

The BBC brings Jools Holland to Blackpool for a Big Band Spectacular

Jools Holland is bringing his band to Blackpool on the 24th June for a free BBC concert.

From today the public can enter a ballot for tickets to A Big Band Special: Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra live at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool.

The event will see Jools play some of the hits from the most influential Big Band musicians of the post-war era.
He will be joined on stage by special guests for the one-night only gig, taking the audience through his own personal view of Big Band music, giving an insight into the ‘greats’ such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong and Lionel Hampton.

The concert is being filmed for BBC FOUR and will be shown in July.
Jools Holland says:
“I’ve always been a fan of Big Band music and I think this is a great way to take the music genre to a wider audience.
“We are going to have one big party on the 24th June and I’m looking forward to playing at the iconic Empress Ballroom which is steeped in music history.”
The charismatic musician, who also hosts BBC2’s legendary music show Later as well as a regular Radio 2 series, will be making Blackpool his home over the next month whilst he films a documentary in the seaside town to coincide with the Empress Ballroom performance.

In a separate programme, Strictly Come Dancing’s Len Goodman and historian Lucy Worsley join Jools to present a BBC TWO documentary which explores life in post-war Britain, and tells the story of how Big Band music helped keep the Nation’s spirits up during the War. They’ll delve into how society was different: what people wore, how they dated and, of course, how they danced. Exploring the relationship between Big Band, Society and the Second World War, they’ll get to the heart of how Big Band came to dominate the UK’s musical scene. The concert and documentary will be made by Whizz Kid Entertainment; Director Geoff Wonfor, Producer Samantha Peters and Executive Producer Malcolm Gerrie. Commissioned by Cassian Harrison and Greg Sanderson.

Peter Salmon, Director, BBC England says:
“Blackpool played an influential part in the Big Band era and has always been a mecca for dancing and music, so having Jools here to celebrate in the town is fantastic.
“It will be a Blackpool night to remember and one which the whole country will be able to enjoy again when it airs on BBC Four.”
Cllr Gillian Campbell, Deputy Leader of Blackpool Council, said:
“I am delighted that Blackpool Council and the Winter Gardens have been able to help the BBC hold a free concert of this magnitude in Blackpool.
“So many people will have memories of travelling to Blackpool to watch Big Bands perform, it’s the perfect location to host this event.
“The concert itself and the two TV programmes that follow will be fantastic exposure for the town. Blackpool has a long and proud tradition of hosting Big Band stars and I’m sure the Empress Ballroom concert will be great occasion for all in attendance.
“I look forward to welcoming Jools Holland and the BBC to town as they explore the history of Big Band music.”

Myleene Klass is to host BBQ Champ, the brand new five part ITV series for the Summer which features Adam Richman.

A team of ten contenders from across the country will compete against each other to become the first BBQ Champ and while Myleene hosts the series, Man vs Food star Adam Richman will judge, alongside British chef and restaurateur Mark Blatchford.

Each week, our contenders will prove themselves in challenges that will sort the BBQ champs from the BBQ chumps.  From creating mouth watering BBQ masterpieces to reinventing culinary classics for the coals and catering for the masses, each contestant will have to try their best to win Adam and Mark’s approval.

Of course like any great BBQ, they’ll have to contend with the great British weather as well as Adam and Mark, as one contender will be sent home every week.  There’s a cash prize of £25,000 for the winning barbecuer, so the competition really will be sizzling!

Myleene is no stranger to TV, having hosted shows including Popstar to Operastar and The One Show.  Mark Blatchford is a newcomer to TV, but he brings a wealth of cooking experience to the series.  Mark started his career at Claridges where he honed his fine dining skills and then worked around the world launching restaurants including Soho House New York before returning home to open the critically acclaimed BBQ restaurants The Beckford Arms in Wiltshire and the John Doe restaurant in Notting Hill.

Myleene said: “I am beyond excited to be hosting BBQ Champ. It’s no secret that I’m partial to a good burger, so to be able to see culinary magic happening as well as get to sample it in situ is my absolute dream job”

Mark said: “As a chef and a bloke I’ve been cooking over and in charcoal & wood for the past 15 years. It is without doubt the tastiest, most versatile and yet most natural cooking method there is.  To be part of the BBQ judging team alongside Adam Richman is brilliant and I can’t wait to get stuck in to see what the competitors can do.”

BBQ Champ was commissioned by ITV’s Director of Entertainment and Comedy Elaine Bedell and Commissioning Editor Entertainment, Kate Maddigan.  It will be a co-production by Whizz Kid Entertainment and Adam Richman’s production company County of Kings.

ADAM RICHMAN COMES TO ITV WITH BBQ CHAMP

ITV has commissioned BBQ Champ, a brand new five part series for the summer which will feature Adam Richman.

Star of Man v. Food Adam will be joined by a team of contenders who will compete against each other to become the first BBQ Champ.

With the UK BBQ market being worth upwards of £7 billion (2013 figures) and with the UK being named Europe’s leading BBQ nation for the fifth year running, BBQ and alfresco eating is big business.  18.5 million British adults own a BBQ and we held 125 million BBQs in the last year alone.  BBQ Champ aims to tap into that BBQ talent and find Britain’s best barbecuers.

Each week, our contenders will prove themselves in challenges that will sort the BBQ champs from the BBQ chumps.  From creating mouth watering BBQ masterpieces to reinventing culinary classics for the coals and catering for the masses, each contestant will have to try their best to win Adam’s approval.

Of course like any great BBQ, they’ll have to contend with the great British weather as well as Adam and his fellow judges as one gets sent home every week.

Adam Richman said “As an American who has come to truly love the UK, I’m overjoyed to see the UK embracing BBQ. Not just eating ‘cue, but crafting it, creating it and pushing themselves to make the best and be the best.  And we are looking for the best to be our BBQ Champ!”

ITV’s Commissioning Editor, Entertainment Kate Maddigan said “We’re delighted to welcome Adam to the channel.  He’s perfectly placed to discover Britain’s untapped BBQ talent and we look forward to a really great competition.”

Executive Producer for Whizz Kid Entertainment Lisa Chapman comments “As a nation we already love to barbecue be it in the garden, a tandoor or even a disposable barbecue on the beach – and this series will inspire us to do even more outdoor cooking.’’
