Alexander Armstrong and Rochelle Humes to host BBC One’s Frank Sinatra: Our Way

The BBC and Whizz Kid Entertainment are delighted to announce that Alexander Armstrong and Rochelle Humes will co-host the upcoming entertainment special for BBC One Frank Sinatra: Our Way.

The entertainment special will feature seven extraordinary, yet relatively unknown acts from all over the UK, each performing their own renditions of songs made famous by Frank Sinatra.

The winner will be chosen on the night by a panel that includes music producers, vocal coaches, musicians, songwriters, music journalists and BBC Local radio DJs. They will be guided by a celebrity panel.

For the winner, a once-in-a-lifetime prize is in store – the chance to perform at a special Sinatra centenary concert to be held in 2015.

Alexander Armstrong, host of BBC One’s hit show Pointless is a long-time Frank Sinatra aficionado who has recently performed Sinatra classics with his four-piece band.  Alexander says: “I am so excited to be celebrating this Sinatra centenary year in such fantastic company. We’re going to be throwing the spotlight onto some truly inspirational and dazzling acts from all around the country. I can’t think of a better tribute to the legacy of one of the 20th century’s most iconic figures.”

Rochelle Humes, who recently co-hosted BBC’s Children In Need, is also a huge fan of Sinatra.  Rochelle comments: “After hosting BBC Children in Need this year I am really excited that BBC One has asked me back to present this brand new show celebrating such a brilliant musical legend, Frank Sinatra.”

The programme was commissioned by Rachel Ashdown for BBC Entertainment who says:
“Both Alexander and Rochelle know what’s required to take a well-known song and make it their own, so they are well placed to support the acts on what’s sure to be a tough fought contest.”

It will be made by Whizz Kid Entertainment and Malcolm Gerrie, Executive Producer for WKE comments:

‘’The standard of entries has been extraordinary.  We have already seen some incredibly talented people who will, I am sure, do justice to the legacy of Sinatra.  From opera singers to buskers and barbershop quartets – from 16 to 85 – we have heard some amazing voices from true Frank fans.  We are genuinely excited to share their talents with the BBC audience and offer one of them a chance to perform at the centenary concert next year.’’
